edit to Illness article
Dr Knox provided a link in comment to my article that shows that the nursery rhyme ring around the Rosey is believed to not be tied to the Plague. I received this information through another article i read (linked in original posting) But It is good to see other people have researched it and can not find evidence of this link.

It's a *really* common misunderstanding, Lindsay. In fact, I just got Carter Lindberg's textbook on the Reformation, a class I'm teaching next semester, and was dismayed to see him repeat that story as if it were established fact (he gave no source). It's one of those things that seems like it ought to be true ... until one goes looking for actual facts. And why would one want to investigate further when the inference seems so reasonable, and when it gets repeated even by established scholars?
Just thought I'd let you know that we make mistakes too!
